In a time of severe drought Chiv had the idea that a new well in the Russie Ros community might bring relief and a reason to connect with the people of the community. His home church raised funds for a well and a team went to see to its construction.

Beyond All That We Ask or Think

The well was dug and Chiv and his team spoke with the villagers about Jesus. They invited others in the village and shared the gospel message. People were serious as they listened and kept coming for more. Eventually 53 new believers were baptized.

The new church worshiped in a dry rice field and Chiv spoke about Jesus’ words from Matthew 7, “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.” The wind began to whip and the rain came before the service of worship ended.

A Strategic Location

The village of Russie Ros is at the 4th corner of an area comprised of other churches. With a strong leader and an earnest group of new believers, it was decided to build a worship structure to encourage community.

The Leaders

Sambo Ban is the brother of Ban Ho, leader at O’Khmom. He had attended church events in O’Khmom but he came to the Lord at Russie Ros and was baptized. He donated land for the church and currently attends seminary in Phnom Penh. He is assisted in leadership by Tuy Pheap.
